Frequently asked questions

How many days and what is the itinerary?

It is 12 days through the Highlands, Isle of Skye, and the North Coast 500, starting and ending in Edinburgh. 2,087 km over 9 riding days, averaging 232 km per day. Four of the six bases have two consecutive nights, so luggage is only unpacked seven times in twelve days.

When does the tour start?

From May 6 to 17, 2027, based in Queensferry, in the Edinburgh region.

What is included?

The motorcycle with insurance, top case, and side panniers for ten days. Eleven nights in hotels with breakfast. The support van that carries large luggage every day. A Brazilian guide on a motorcycle and a driver in the van. Route briefing every morning, the Mallaig ferry to the Isle of Skye, the official kit with a printed route, and photographic record of the trip. Airfare, fuel, meals, castle entrance fees, travel insurance, and personal expenses are not included.

Which motorcycle will I ride?

The fleet is all big trail: BMW R1300GS, BMW R1250GS, Honda Africa Twin, and Triumph Tiger 900. There are eight motorcycles for the group, with a single price and no difference by model. Choice is by booking order: whoever confirms first chooses first. Any substitutions will maintain the same category.

Do I need experience to go?

Road trip experience helps but is not a prerequisite. Day 1 is just briefing and Day 2 runs on wide roads, specifically to get used to the left-hand side calmly. The guide leads the way setting the pace, and the small group makes a difference on single-track roads. No day exceeds 300 km.

How is the weather in May?

May is the driest month of the year in the Highlands, with about 16 hours of light per day and before the midge season. Even so, rain is part of it: the weather changes several times in the same day and real waterproof gear is mandatory. The date was chosen outside British holidays and the Scottish Cup final weekend.

Can I bring a pillion?

Yes. The couple's price is per motorcycle and applies to both people, with no additional charge for the pillion. The pillion has the kit, accommodation, and support under the same conditions as the pilot, and the van carries the large luggage, so no one rides loaded down.

I am going alone. Who do I share the room with?

You choose between a shared room with another solo rider or an individual room. Shared rooms have only two spots, as they depend on twin rooms with two separate beds across the eleven nights, and not every Highlands hotel has them. If you book a shared room and no one appears to share, Adventure Dream covers the difference and you pay nothing extra.

What is the group size?

Eight motorcycles, period. What is scarce here is the bike, not the bed. A small group is what allows maintaining the pace and logistics on the Highlands single-track roads.

Do I need to bring a helmet and gear?

Bring your own from home: helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, and boots. The rental company lends helmets based on the size provided in advance, but does not guarantee the fit. In Scotland, real waterproof gear makes a difference.

How does the motorcycle security deposit work?

The rental company blocks the insurance deductible on each rider's international credit card, £1,000, approximately R$ 7,000, on the delivery day. This is a hold, not a charge, released after return without incidents. The card must be Visa or Mastercard, in the rider's name, with this available limit.

Do I need travel insurance?

Yes, and it is the responsibility of each participant. Check if the policy covers motorcycle riding accidents, without displacement limits, and medical evacuation, as many common insurances exclude motorcycles. The motorcycle's own insurance is already included in the rental, with a £1,000 deductible.

What documents do I need to bring?

A valid passport, a Brazilian category A driver's license held for at least two years, and the IDP (International Driving Permit) issued in Brazil before the trip. Also, an international credit card in the rider's name for the security deposit.

Are airfares included?

No, airfares are the participant's responsibility, considering their place of origin. The destination is Edinburgh. Our team can recommend a partner agency to help with quotes and purchase.

When should I buy the airfare?

After booking and once the departure is confirmed, which happens upon reaching the minimum of 5 bikes. The itinerary already includes airport-to-hotel transfer on arrival and return transfer on the morning of the last day.

Can I arrive earlier or stay later?

Yes, and it is worth it. Extra nights are at your expense, and we can help with reservations at the same hotel subject to availability. The motorcycle, however, is yours only during the ten days of the expedition, from May 7 to 16.

How does payment work?

30% deposit upon registration and the remainder until April 2027. The price is in reais, with no exchange rate variation for the participant: Adventure Dream assumes the exchange rate risk. The price increases with each lot, and those who book first pay less.

How long is each lot valid?

The 1st lot is valid until 11/30/2026 or for the first five motorcycles, which are the ones that confirm the departure. The 2nd lot goes until 01/31/2027 or until the seventh motorcycle. The 3rd lot continues until the eight motorcycles are filled or until the date of the trip.

When do you confirm the trip will happen?

Departure is confirmed upon reaching the minimum number of 5 motorcycles, and you are informed at the time of booking. The group closes at a maximum of eight motorcycles.

What if I need to cancel?

In the first 7 days after signing, you can cancel and receive everything back without a penalty. This is the right of withdrawal under the Consumer Protection Code for distance contracts. After 7 days, the contract table applies: up to 90 days before the trip you receive 70% of what you already paid, from 89 to 60 days 50%, from 59 to 30 days 30%, and less than 30 days there is no refund. If you prefer credit for another expedition instead of cash, the percentage is better: 85% up to 90 days, 70% from 89 to 60 days, and 50% from 59 to 30 days, valid for 24 months. Less than 30 days before departure there is no refund or credit, as hotels, bikes, and reservations are already paid. You can also transfer your spot to another person up to 30 days before departure, paying only the lot difference, if any, provided they meet the licensing and experience prerequisites. The full table is in the contract, before any payment. It is worth taking out travel cancellation insurance: it covers what the contract does not refund in case of illness, accident, or other reasons provided in the policy.
